In the verse form The Uncle Speaks in the Drawing means prosperous writes from the perspective of her uncle who is preaching against a protest for genial change. The uncle is the narrator throughout the entire verse form so vocabulary is very important. The twin themes of power and impotency are two of Adrienne Richs most rent themes. Her poetry especially focuses on the differences in the way work force and women use or abuse power (in her opinion), for example in her poem Power. Many of her poems also focus on the impotence of women at the tim e she was writing, such as auntie Jennifers Tigers.

While I do not behave with many of Richs opinions, I think she does an downright job of conveying her ideas through her use of symbolism, vocabulary and great imagery. Rich also uses imagery when dealing with the themes of power and powerlessness in auntie Jennifers Tigers. The massive weight of Uncles wedding band sits heavily upon auntie Jennifers pass off. This image illustrates how much Aunt Jennifer was weighed down by the proscribe influence of her husband and how he crushed her spirit. The image of Aunt Jennifers terrified hands is an extreme one, used t o judgment just how much power her husband! had over her.
